It took Tom over 20 years to realise that he didn't look good in a suit and tie, and less than 5 minutes to resign from his day job to concentrate on his writing and photography. He's since won awards for his pictures, and travelled extensively both in the UK and abroad. Best known as the person behind the pull-out Routes section of mbr (Mountain Bike Rider) magazine and the main contributor of all things Wales in Trail magazine, he's also the chief gear tester for Country Walking and a contributing editor to the bi-monthly Adventure Travel. On top of all this, he has written and illustrated a number of guidebooks. He's equally at home walking, climbing, skiing, or cycling, and his passion for the outdoors is matched only by his love of nature in general.
